Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University


Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University (TeSaU) located in Telavi, Kakheti, Georgia. It is one of the ancient educational hearth and Kakhei scientific centre. In 1924 pedagogical technical college was established in Telavi which was the basis of the institute for teachers. In 1951 it was changed into Telavi Pedagodical Institute. In 2001 according to the decree of the President of Georgia I.Gogebashvili Telavi Pedagogical Institute become as Telavi State University. There are more than 50 study programs on five faculties: Faculty of Agricultural Sciences; Faculty of Education; Faculty of Social sciences, Business and Law; Faculty of the Humanities; Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences. Approximately 2000 students are mastering their specialties on all three levels of education: BA, MA, and PhD. TeSaU offers different varieties of professional programs. There Functions: More than 30 laboratories, Teaching workshops, Sociological Research group, Computer Centre, Foreign Language Learning and Professional Training Centre, Caucasus Research Centre, Room for Archeology, Foreign Language Centre of International Black Sea University, Centre for German Language and Culture (Biberach Room), Centre for European Studies, Journalistic Teaching Centre, American Teaching Centre, Francophone Centre, Students’ Self-government, Sport and Cultural Clubs, Center for International Education.
From 2005 TeSaU became the full member of Bologna Process and aligned the university educational programs to Bologna standards. At the same time the university tries to meet the demands of modern time which serves to the noble mission of upbringing the educated and motivated youth. For this purpose TeSaU is involved in different international programs, such as TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS and etc. which aims to create new courses, modules, programs as well as student and academic stuff mobility. Telavi State University hosts winter and summer schools.

Nino Korinteli – Main Specialist of International Relations Office at TeSaU.
She is a Master of Typological Linguistics and Translation (English and Georgian). At TeSaU she is responsible on contact between the university and its stuff as well as national and international institutions. Mostly she is the coordinator in solving technical and administrative problems connected to the agreements between the university and other TEMPUS partners and institutions. She is the institutional coordinator of another TEMPUS project CASEDE.

Shalva Tchkadua – PhD in History through Erasmus Mundus ECW PhD Program. (University of Macedonia, ATEI, Thessaloniki, Greece) and Post-Doctoral Program (University of Sapienza, Rome, Italy). He is lecturer of History on Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Social sciences, Business and Law at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University since 2011. He is the head of Quality Assurance Service at Telavi State University. He is the author of educational course in English Language – “Conflict regions in Georgia and its post-soviet development”.

Rusudan Piranishvili – the PhD in Computer science on Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, 2012. She is currently employed as invited doctor of Informatics at TESAU. She teaches Computer Sciences in following subjects: Introductory course in Informatics; Information Technology; Computer skills; Information systems management; Web technologies.
